PMA Suspends Vessel Operations for Four Days 2/12/15

The Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) announced yesterday, February 11th, that it will suspend vessel operations at West Coast port terminals on four of the next five days, rather than pay premium weekend and holiday salaries to members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU.)  Vessels will not be worked on the following days:

  • Thursday, 2/12 (Lincoln’s Birthday)
  • Saturday, 2/14
  • Sunday, 2/15
  • Monday, 2/16 (Washington’s Birthday)

Please note that yard, gate, and rail operations will continue at the respective terminal operators’ discretion.

In Southern California, terminal operators will expand daytime vessel operations on non-holiday weekdays.
