October 22, 2021 Alaska Service Announcement: Vessel Schedule Changes & Bypasses MKD196N – MLE163N Valued Customers of American Fast Freight, Inc., please view the latest announcement from Matson: Please be advised that a major winter storm system has developed in the Gulf of Alaska, bringing with it hurricane-force winds and heavy seas. This severe weather system will impact both of our sailings this week. MKD196N To wait out the brunt of the storm, Matson Kodiak delayed its departure from Tacoma until 0712 on Thursday morning. Based upon the current weather outlook, we plan a 1900 start in Anchorage on Sunday, October 24, with cargo available at 2100. The gate will be open as needed. As a further result of this delay, MKD196S will bypass Kodiak and return directly to Tacoma from Anchorage. Cargo from Tacoma destined for Kodiak will be discharged in Anchorage and relayed to MLE163N. MLE163N MV Maunalei is also delayed in its return to Tacoma until early Saturday morning. We plan to begin cargo operations immediately upon arrival, with a planned departure on Saturday night and an ETA Anchorage of early Wednesday morning, October 27. MLE163S will call on Kodiak on Thursday, October 28, but will bypass Dutch Harbor and return directly to Tacoma from Kodiak. We will provide an ETA update after MLE163N departs from Tacoma and if there are any other changes to this schedule.
