August 20, 2019 Alaska Service Announcement August 20, 2019 Due to unforeseen circumstances we are experiencing services disruptions in the Alaska market in the following areas: Kenai Due to wildfires the Sterling Highway has been previously closed between Anchorage and Kenai thus preventing the OTR (Over the Road) operations to this area. The road opened for a brief time on 8/19 and is currently closed. Trucks are standing by to move the freight as soon as the road is open, however continued delays are expected. Fairbanks The Parks Highway between Anchorage and Fairbanks has been previously been closed due to wildfires. Even though the roads have recently opened, delays are still expected. The Alaska Railroad has halted operations between Anchorage and Fairbanks due to washed out track caused by mudslides. Efforts are in place to repair the damage track and the current expectation is that repairs will be completed by Tuesday (8/20) afternoon. Service disruptions are expected until roads are fully opened and the rail is back in full operation. If you have any questions, please contact your Transportation Consultant or Customer Service.
