July 22, 2021 Caribbean Shipping Services: Service Announcement Update: The strike has ended and ports and drivers are operational as of 07/23/2021. Due to the Truckers’ Wide Front (Frente Amplio de Camioneros) strike in Puerto Rico, port operations have been stopped and there are concerns of gas stations being closed due to lack of fuel and sympathetic actions from other port based unions. News items released so far indicate medical supplies, fuel and food items will be allowed to pass through the ports for the benefit of people on island, yet these too will be impacted until these issues are resolved and union truckers and others return to work. Caribbean Shipping Services’ personnel on island are non-union and are not participating in the strike. Safety and welfare of our personnel as well as our clients is our top concern. Product currently on island and available to be delivered in a safe manner will continue to be managed safely and securely. We will provide updates on products in our care and provide status updates accordingly. We strongly urge the use of our online web access tools to track and manage information regarding current shipment status. The access to this web portal is: https://css.tmwcloud.com/custom/userLogin.php. It is important to note that this kind of work stoppage will impact access to empty containers on the mainland as well as loaded containers and those pending departure. Rotation and timing of vessel and barge movement will be interrupted and this will take time to regain balance in the lane. This will impact the entire supply chain for movement to and from the island and it will be wise to manage cargo movement more closely over the next several weeks. Air service to and from the island will be at a premium and Odyssey Logistics can assist you with these services as well. Please contact your sales representative for assistance where needed. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary information as it becomes available. Thank you for choosing Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation to be your service provider.
