The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 28th annual International Roadcheck will take place June 2-4, 2015 (this Tuesday through Thursday). The annual Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world. It consists of a 72-hour period when approximately 10,000 CVSA-certified local, state, provincial and federal inspectors across North America perform, on average, nearly 17 truck or bus inspections every minute in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
What does this mean to shippers?
- Capacity could tighten during the road check.
- Drivers are spending valuable time being inspected.
- In some areas many independent “owner-operators” will literally shut down their operations effectively putting themselves out of service for all practical purposes during the 3 day event.
- With over 16,450 vehicles /drivers placed out of service during last year’s annual inspection, expectations are there will be a number of drivers and trucks put out of service this year as well.
