Hawaiian Service Announcement: GRI

December 9, 2019

Valued Customers of Hawaiian Ocean Transport, Inc., please be advised of the following rate increase:

The water carriers serving Hawaii have announced rate increases affecting both westbound and eastbound shipments to and from Hawaii, noting the need to offset increasing costs of operations and investments in new equipment.

Also, the State of Hawaii will increase wharfage charges on July 1, 2020. The specifics of that increase are unknown at this time.

In addition to the above, trucking (lower 48 and Hawaii) and rail rates in the lower 48 and Hawaii continue to increase.

American Fast Freight (AFF) and Hawaiian Ocean Transport (HOT) remain committed to do everything within our control to provide reasonable and cost-effective ocean and trucking freight rates for our valued customers. However, based on these recently announced actions, we will have to pass these increases on to our customers. Those FCL and LCL adjustments will be tailored per customer based on factors such as volume, type of freight and associated costs. The new rates will become effective with sailings after January 5, 2020.

Thank you for your business.
