January 12, 2016 Heavy Snow and High Winds Hit Great Lakes and Ohio Valley 1/12/16 Tuesday, January 12, 2016 – A dangerous combination of brief, but heavy snow storms and strong winds created treacherous travel conditions in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley today. The burst of snow moved across the region, resulting in low visibility and major interstate pileups in some areas. Limited Operations due to weather conditions reported in the following areas: Canada: Toronto, Windsor Canada Bridge Update The newly constructed Nipigon River Bridge in northern Ontario has heaved apart, indefinitely closing the Trans-Canada highway — the only road connecting Eastern and Western Canada. Freeze Protection Suspension HOLLAND: Freeze Protection Suspended in Minnesota and Upper Wisconsin January 12 Extremely cold temperatures are cause to suspend Freeze Protection service in Minnesota and the terminals in upper Wisconsin today. The suspension will apply both to pick up and delivery of shipments in the following areas: State of Minnesota Appleton, Wisconsin service area Tomah, Wisconsin service area Wausau, Wisconsin service area Odyssey will continue to monitor conditions and report updates as additional information is made available.
