Press Releases: 5/19/2015 Odyssey Logistics &Technology Backs Veterans Employment Drive Goal is to Place One Vet a Day DANBURY, CT (May 19, 2015) — Representatives of Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (Odyssey) joined with business leaders, military officials, veterans and VIPs at the eighth annual Paralyzed Veterans’ Golf Open (PVGO) Monday to advance efforts to help veterans and military caregivers overcome barriers to employment. The 2015 event proceeds are expected to top $400,000 – all of which will go to Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Operation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment), a unique, high-impact program helping veterans and their family members get quality jobs. “At Odyssey we realize the importance of honoring and supporting our veterans,” said Bob Shellman, Odyssey CEO. “It is a true privilege to be able to support an organization such as Operation PAVE that has proven to make such a significant difference in a growing number of veterans’ lives.” Operation PAVE differs from traditional job-assistance programs aimed at veterans and family members, offering intense, highly personal and individualized counseling and support. The program is on track to meet its goal of placing at least one veteran, caregiver or family member per day during 2015. The PVGO, held this year at The Golf Club at Lansdowne outside Washington DC, has raised $2.6 million since its inception in 2008. The tournament dedicates all funds to Operation PAVE and the program’s employment services, which are provided free to all veterans and their family members. “We thank Odyssey for their support at this important event,” said Al Kovach, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “We need leaders like Odyssey in the business community to continue to step up and help us achieve our ambitious veterans’ employment efforts, and help honor those who have served America.” Operation PAVE provides free one-on-one career assistance, benefits counseling and support to all veterans, their families, and their caregivers. PAVE specializes in assisting disabled veterans seeking to re-enter the workforce. PAVE counselors also work with local and national employers committed to hiring veterans by identifying qualified employment candidates. “Since 2007, more than 2,500 veterans have received services through the PAVE program. PAVE’S current case load of nearly 700 clients are served by Master’s – level certified rehabilitation counselors and trained employment analysts who are located across the country.
