Press Releases: Odyssey Logistics & Technology Invests in Ocean Container Fleet to Support Citrus Service

Adds 200 custom-designed containers with insulation and reinforced walls

Danbury, Conn. (Dec. 21, 2017) – To better meet customer demand and address the capacity shortage during the peak citrus season, Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. (Odyssey) today announced it has added 200 custom-designed ocean shipping containers to the fleet of its subsidiary, Odyssey FoodTrans LLC.

The containers are designed exclusively to support Odyssey’s citrus flexitank service, an innovative approach to that sector’s specific transportation and logistics needs. Odyssey’s single-use flexitanks offer an environmentally friendly option that enables shippers to transport bulk payloads of freight at a low cost while maintaining product integrity.

Customized for citrus requirements, the engineering and design of these ocean containers preserves product quality and enables flexitank stability. The containers feature special insulation for improved temperature stability in transit and reinforced walls to allow for maximum capacity.

“The design of the containers is unique to Odyssey,” said Bob Shellman, president and CEO, Odyssey Logistics & Technology. “Our investment in them reflects our commitment to innovation and expanding our services to meet the needs of our customers.”

“Odyssey has seen significant success using flexitanks as a way to move citrus that offers a single-use, cost effective solution that’s recyclable,” said Annick Casier, president of Odyssey FoodTrans LLC, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics & Technology. “By taking proactive measures with the addition of 200 new containers, we’re offering additional capacity and a choice to using traditional ISO tanks.”

The 200 containers arrived in North America on December 11th and will be deployed for the 2018 citrus season.
