OL&T Earns Certification as ACC Responsible Care(R) Partner

DANBURY, Conn. (Nov. 17, 2010) – Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OL&T), a global logistics and transportation service provider for the chemical and process industries, announced today that it has received certification as a Partner Company in the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® Initiative.

The Responsible Care Management System® is a structured management system designed to help improve performance and advance the safe and secure management of chemical products and processes.  Participating companies must receive an independent, third-party audit to verify that a management system is in place and functions according to the requirements of the ACC standards.

“As a Responsible Care Partner Company, we are committed to following the highest standards of safety with respect to our employees, customers and the environment,” said Ken Howard, director of logistics operations and safety management, OL&T.  “In addition, this formal third-party certification validates  that we manage and transport our clients’ products just as they would, holding safety, health, environment and security to the highest standards.”

Responsible Care is the ACC’s comprehensive health, safety, security and environmental performance improvement initiative. ACC Member and Responsible Care Partner companies implement Responsible Care to effectively manage their operations and products and respond to stakeholder concerns.  Implementation of Responsible Care® is an obligation for ACC member and Responsible Care Partner companies.

The Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) is an integrated safety, health, security and environment management system based on the principles of Responsible Care.  It utilizes the plan-do-check-act continuous improvement cycle that raises the standard for industry-wide performance while allowing flexibility to meet the specific needs of individual companies and facilities.  To complete the process, the company must pass the initial certification audit and then implement a system of internal and 3rd party certification audits to show continued compliance with the tenets of Responsible Care.

Howard also added that there is a definite competitive advantage to being a Responsible Care certified Partner. “Not only does it hold OL&T to a higher standard, it demonstrates to the chemical community that we are aligned with their quality and safety initiatives.”, said Howard.
