National Truck Driver Appreciation Week: September 13-19, 2020

Sunday, September 13th marks the start of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2020 (NTDAW) and I am so proud of our team of drivers across the Odyssey organization.

The heightened global awareness and appreciation of truck drivers is a highlight of 2020. From the moment the pandemic began, our drivers pivoted from their normal routines to help support emergency operations and have kept our customers, and the economy, moving.National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2020

We will be featuring drivers from across our organization on our social channels throughout this week and on behalf of the entire Odyssey team, thank you to all our drivers and support teams for your focus on safety and your unwavering commitment to our customers.

Thank you,

Bob Shellman

DRIVER SPOTLIGHTS:

Larry is an owner/operator in Indiana for ADS, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics, with 22 years of professional driving experience.

As a driver, Larry enjoys “the freedom of the open road” and the best part of working for ADS is that they allow me to “challenge myself to be better all the time.”

While on the road, Larry always has pictures of his family and cheesecake bites for his sweet tooth.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family, racing motorcycles, and playing pranks on his friends.

Jeremiah is a professional driver in Washington for AFF, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics, with 21 years of professional driving experience.

As a driver, Jeremiah likes that AFF offers “local pick-ups and deliveries.” One thing he wishes others realized about driving is that “it takes a lot of patience to be a safe driver.”

When driving, he enjoys driving through his “home state of Alaska in the Fall. Driving from South-Central to Fairbanks, AK you can see the changing seasons as you drive North.”

In his spare time, Jeremiah enjoys boating and camping with his family and listening to Pandora Radio.

Jorge is a professional driver in New Jersey for Linden Bulk Transportation, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics, with 20 years of driving experience.

As a driver, Jorge wishes others realized the importance of “safety.” Jorge went on to say “I feel comfortable” working at Linden, Safety is their number priority.

While driving, he enjoys listening to salsa and always has fruit packed as a snack.

In his spare time, he loves being with his family. He said one thing most people don’t know about him is that he’s “always happy.”

Jeff is a professional driver in California for RPM Transportation, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics, with 25 years of professional driving experience.

Jeff’s favorite part of being a driver is “the freedom and “being trusted with a truckload of freight and to get the job done.” Jeff mentioned the best part of working for RPM is the team. “Management and all the drivers work together.”

Being a local driver, Jeff enjoys the rural highways in Southern California while listening to Country or Rock.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoys pulling out the grill and having a family BBQ. He thinks its important to remember that “at the end of the day its always about having a good time.”

Keith is a professional driver in Alaska for AFF, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics, with 6 years of professional driving experience.

As a driver, Keith wishes others understood the “overall dangers and basics of tractor trailer maneuvers, for example, knowing how to identify a driver making a difficult turn with a large trailer and how to respond.”

While on the road, Keith will listen to any type of music that’s “high energy and motivating.” His favorite snack on the road is beef jerky and he never will leave his home without his cell phone for emergencies.

Keith says he enjoys working for AFF because “contrary to other companies I’ve driven for, AFF is more than a job, we all care about each other and operate as a family and team!”

Robert is an owner operation in New Jersey for Linden Bulk Transportation, a subsidiary of Odyssey Logistics with 38 years of professional driving experience.

Robert said his favorite part of being a professional driver is being able to “take care of my customers,” and working for “Linden they always have good work” that allows me to do so.

One thing Robert wished others understood about being a professional truck driver is that “we are just trying to make a living and be safe on the road.”

In Robert’s spare time he enjoys riding his bicycle and motorcycle and playing pranks on others.
