Real Time Tracking (RTT) information consists of either: 

1. Geopositions: Supplied from a tracking device on a transport unit with a frequency of at least 15 minutes. The tracking should start at least 2 hours before loading and/or when truck is in 50km perimeter of the loading location; or, 
2. Status messages (milestones): supplied each time an activity happens with a shipment with a maximum time lapse of 30 minutes. The milestones needed as a minimum and depending on the shipment lane are:
   1. Out for pick up
   2. Picked up
   3. In transit/vehicle in motion/en route (anything that indicates the truck is in motion and on the way to customer)
   4. Arrived at terminal
   5. Departed from terminal 
   6. Out for delivery (1 day before delivery or on a day of delivery) 
   7. Delivered

With each message, an updated ETA can be communicated. 

In addition to the above milestones, info messages need to be sent 

• To communicate ETA updates, and 
• any other relevant info, such as customs clearance status. 

Terminal definition:

• a place where there is a change in transport unit (typically a transit hub of the carrier or his subcontractor) and/or a change in transport mode (typical examples are a railway station or a port). The name/city/country of the terminal need to be a part of the milestone message. 
• If multiple terminals are part of the shipment lane, arrived and departed milestones for each terminal need to be sent.
