Thursday, July 11, 2019: New Orleans has been inundated with heavy rains associated with the developing storm system in the Gulf of Mexico which is forecast to intensify to hurricane strength by Friday. The system has already caused widespread flooding along with many road closures and delays at the ports and rails.
Container and breakbulk terminals within the Port of New Orleans will cease operations by noon today.
Non-essential flood gates are being closed throughout the area in preparation of the impending tropical system with plans to close other flood gates in the area that will affect port and rail traffic.
