The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) could go on strike against the Canadian National (CN) as early as November 19, 2019. Approximately 3,000 conductors, trainpersons and yardpersons recently voted 99.2% in favor of a strike. The union gave its strike notice ahead of the Tuesday deadline.
The legally mandated conciliation period ended October 25, 2019. The company and union have been in negotiations for the last 6 months and with federal mediators the last 4 months.
If a strike occurs the Canadian government will be pressed for back to work legislation by Canadian shippers.
Odyssey is monitoring the potential strike and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
