Weather Related Service Update: Winter Storm to Impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Friday

The National Weather Service has announced a winter storm will produce a swath of freezing rain into Friday over the northern Mid-Atlantic and a swath of heavy snow over upstate New York State and much of New England.  Ice accumulations over 0.25” are most likely over west-central Pennsylvania where particularly hazardous travel is likely.  Snowfall rates of 1-2” per hour possible in the Northwest.

Winter Storm Bringing Ice to the Central U.S. Shifting to the Mid-Atlantic

Heavy Snow Expected for the Northeast

The National Weather Service has announced a significant winter storm will bring snow and ice from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley Thursday night with heavy snow for the Northeast U.S. Thursday night through Friday.    Freezing rain and sleet ongoing from north Texas through the Mid-Mississippi Valley will shift to the eastern Ohio Valley through the central Appalachians which could bring dangerous travel.

Winter Storm to Impact Central to Eastern U.S.

The National Weather Service has announced a significant winter storm will bring snow and ice from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley Wednesday through Thursday night and to the Northeast U.S. Thursday night through Friday.  Freezing rain and sleet is expected from north Texas through the Mid-Mississippi Valley and eastern Ohio Valley through the central Appalachians which could bring dangerous travel.

A Large Winter Storm the Next Couple of Days

The National Weather Service has announced a very active weather pattern is expected this week and the first of possibly two winter storms will impact the Central, Southern and Eastern U.S. the next couple of days.  Heavy snow and ice will wallop much of the Upper Midwest into the Great Lakes, while severe thunderstorms with all hazards and heavy rain with flooding are likely from the southern Plains to the Tennessee Valley and the South.
