Wednesday, January 3, 2018 – Winter Storm Grayson began a wintry trek through the Deep South earlier today, causing major travel issues in Southeastern states like Florida and Georgia. The mix of freezing rain, sleet and later snow, will spread from Florida up to Virginia, and is expected to trigger power outages along its way. Already the system has closed a 49-mile stretch of I-10 in Florida near Tallahassee due to slick road conditions and tens of thousands of homes and businesses were reported powerless in North Florida, according to PowerOutage.us. Pickup and delivery delays and other service disruptions in the affected regions are expected.
The SC Port of Charleston announced Charleston terminal operations will cease at 10:00 am today, January 3, 2018 based on current conditions. The port is still planning to reopen for operations at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 4. Updates will be provided based on conditions.
