From foundation to future: Charting a journey of growth through 2025

Looking back on 2024, our team at Odyssey has a lot to be proud of in a year that tested the resilience of the global supply chain. We maintained our financial stability and continued to invest in our future. We’re now in a position for a new era of growth.

Recently, our leadership team met in Charlotte to discuss our 2025 goals and plans, and the way forward quickly became clear. As we build on our strong foundation to achieve even greater future success, we will embody the idea of One Odyssey. The watchwords for 2025 will be vision, execution, and speed. Across all our business units, we aim to move even faster and outpace the market while providing high levels of customer service and value.

We identified five company-wide goals for 2025 — designed to drive growth, innovation, and success across the entirety of our business.

1. Boost Financial Performance

Our first obligation is to exceed profit targets. Last year, Odyssey built a healthy level of liquidity that we will maintain through 2025.

We’re also going to sharpen the focus on our capital expenditures. Capital projects will go forward in only two areas: those where Odyssey will see significant and timely return on investment, or those that are essential for reducing risk exposure.
Finally, we’ll be working with IT to enhance the accuracy of our financial data to support more informed and effective business decisions.

2. Transform Our Culture

One Odyssey isn’t merely a slogan to ensure our business units are aligned — it’s also a critical rallying cry for our company culture. 2025 will be about promoting a unified company identity where everyone at Odyssey grows and wins together.
To meet this goal, Odyssey will continue to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Our HR team will also be taking a holistic look at our employee experience. We want our people engaged to the maximum degree, taking initiative wherever it’s needed.
The final piece of culture will be increasing leadership transparency. We are increasing our openness around company decisions to strengthen trust among our stakeholders.

3. Build Best-in-Class Commercial Capabilities

Success in 2025 will also mean a renewed focus on Odyssey’s commercial capabilities. Our commercial team is working hard to grow wallet share, increase cross-selling, and win new business.
Customers choose Odyssey because they love the hands-on support we offer. In 2025, Odyssey will take this reputation a step further — proactively connecting customers with new opportunities to move their freight and deepening our business with each. No resting on our laurels: Odyssey’s customers deserve every chance to improve their business and we have the team in place to accomplish this.
This is going to be an adventurous year for Odyssey. Last year we found unique ways to attack a market that was often in a slump. In 2025, Odyssey will continue to think big and break boundaries.

4. Operational and Safety Excellence

Thinking big must come from a solid foundation in operations and safety.
As such, we’re auditing our processes this year to streamline their efficiency and improve their safety even further. We’re also strengthening our spending discipline to optimize costs.
Odyssey is a big company, with immense operational capacity. We see an opportunity in that capacity to improve our responsiveness to customer demands. By leaning more on our operational infrastructure, we can deliver even more exceptional service to our customers.
We’re moving from strength to strength with our safety culture, pursuing an ambitious but attainable goal of zero incidents. ‘Safety first’ is one of our core values. Living that value means that every incident gets reported and analyzed carefully.
Odyssey takes its ESG goals seriously. This is a key value proposition; however, it’s not as widely known as it should be. 2025 will be about communicating the extent to which our customers’ values shine through in Odyssey’s operations.

5. Enhance IT Capabilities

Odyssey is quickly becoming one of the most tech-forward supply chain companies in the world. 2025 will build on this momentum. We’re going to invest in, deliver, and maintain high-performing tools across the whole organization.
Our IT capabilities will help us improve customer engagement and the employee experience. It will also help us institute a more rigorous risk management system, ensuring that we spot problems before they happen and keep our systems resilient against threats of all kinds.
Most exciting, the investments we’re making in machine learning and AI will increase the degree to which ours and our customers’ decisions are driven by data.

Charting the Path to Growth

The last several years were successful for our business. We achieved this success by navigating a complex logistics landscape to deliver seamless experiences for our customers. Our motto these days is that we’re enabling a world where distance doesn’t matter. By pulling together as One Odyssey, that world will come together before our eyes.
