Our story
We’ve come a long way since our founding in 2003. And the best is yet to come.
More ways to move forward
Movement shapes our world. It connects our economies, businesses, and communities. Movement fuels change.
However, for many shippers, the supply chain still feels disjointed — marked by limited visibility and uneven control over critical freight. Odyssey Logistics was founded to address that problem.
Drawing on deep expertise in chemicals and industrial markets, the focus from the start was on delivering intelligent, practical solutions tailored to the industry’s most complex needs.
Since 2003, that approach has translated into more choices and a more connected experience across modes and markets for our customers. From bulk chemicals and warehousing to complex industrial freight, Odyssey operates as a single supply chain partner.
What began with a single client has grown into a multimodal logistics organization serving more than 6,000 customers. As Odyssey continues to move forward, the priority is steady, resilient growth—delivering dependable multimodal shipping solutions for customers and their customers in the years ahead.
Want to hear more about our journey to One Odyssey? Let’s get moving.
The early years: 2003 – 2010
We started as a process manufacturing logistics firm, serving a single client with five employees. Business quickly boomed — and numerous service and technology acquisitions and equity offerings followed. By the time the aughts had closed, we were a global logistics and transportation service provider across industries.
We expanded beyond North America into EMEA, annually recognized within the industry as a top 3PL company and logistics provider. Regardless of economic fluctuations and recessions, we consistently posted double-digit growth rates, and affirmed our commitment to sustainability by earning certification as a Partner Company in the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® Initiative.
Building up: 2010 – 2015
The next five years brought a series of strategic acquisitions — all with a view of expanding logistics options for our customers. We focused on bringing in the best of the best, including industry leaders in International IMC (Interdom)and chemical sampling and fulfillment (Chemical Marketing Concepts).
These acquisitions expanded our company’s size to over 2,000 employees, and offerings beyond process and chemicals logistics into LTL, ISO tanks, and metals, while also expanding our intermodal networks both domestic and abroad.
Building out: 2015 - 2024
We continued broadening our customers’ options for freight through new facilities and acquisitions — including AFF Global and RPM Consolidated — that continued to give us better positioning throughout the supply chain and a specialization in Jones Act markets. We extended our metals service internationally, built on Load-and-Roll pallet technology, specialized equipment and the ability to run metal coil on intermodal. Our chemical sample fulfillment facility opened in Shanghai, cementing our place in the region.
All this growth culminated in consolidating Odyssey into four operating divisions: Intermodal, transport and warehouse, integrated marine logistics, and managed services — showing customers around the world the breadth and depth of service Odyssey could provide.
Unifying as One Odyssey: 2024 - present
In 2024, we relocated our Intermodal headquarters to Lombard, Ill., strengthening proximity to key rail and trucking hubs. We also acquired OctoChem, Inc. in Vandalia, Ill., expanding chemical sample fulfillment capabilities for hazardous and pharma-grade materials — supporting customers that rely on compliant, reliable sampling.
In 2025, we opened our new global headquarters in Charlotte, NC, positioning Odyssey in a fast‑growing logistics corridor with strong talent, interstate and rail access, and one of the world’s busiest international airports.
As One Odyssey, we’re expanding what’s possible for multimodal logistics, equipping our customers with more options for their freight across modes, markets and service needs.
Moving toward the future
After more than 20 years of moving some of the world’s most valuable cargo through complex supply chains, the most important lesson has been to avoid complacency. By constantly moving forward, Odyssey has built a strong reputation in logistics and has remained resilient through challenging periods in the global supply chain.
Whatever the years ahead hold, we’re focused expanding the reach of our customers’ freight by giving them access to more and better options.
The world will keep moving. And so will we.
